In today’s Election Tribunal, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will begin its defence against Atiku’s claims of Election Malpractices. This also implies that the Electoral umpire will be defending the win of President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a complaint lodged by the PDP and its presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, INEC has not been fair with the conduct of the election on 23 February 2019. INEC is to refute such complaints today.
President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was proclaimed the champion by the electoral head.
In the next six days, INEC will defend the claims found in the complaint of PDP and Atiku in which 62 witnesses gave proof against the election’s legitimacy.
The court had rescheduled to open its defense for the first defendant, INEC, until July 29.
The conflict created by the existence and use of INEC’s server is one of the main problems that will be discussed and argued at the tribunal session.
Atiku and PDP argue that the election outcome was uploaded to INEC server, while the statement was strongly refused by both INEC, Buhari and APC.
Recall that the Election kicked off on February 2019 and it was initially postponed on the very day it was scheduled to start. However, one week after the postponement, the Election kicked. This is also one of the claims that INEC will defend today.
