Dozens of students from Lagos State Polytechnic – Laspotech assembled today at the Alausa secretariat and also Ikorodu to challenge their school’s closure.

The learners barred highways around the office and demanded that the Non-Teaching Staff Union (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) must interfere in the shut down of their college.

These undergraduates have been seen rampaging around, aggressively saying that they will not retreat until a lasting solution is reached.

Earlier today, everything seems not to be well with Ikorodu’s famous BRT bus customers. Based on our sources, operations were suspended at Ikorodu Garage Roundabout owing to Laspotech undergraduates demonstration prior to their institution’s leadership failures and shutdown.

It was claimed that certain BRT vehicles were required to transport them to State House, Alausa for their demonstration, but Primero is not prepared to allow them the use of their vehicles, this act irritated the learners who disturbed normal functions at the Ikorodu BRT Bus Terminal operations.

Commuters going to job are denied of buses and at the early minutes of this morning are tied at the bus stop.

It’s been gathered from one of the learners that after several hours, 4 buses was later released for them.

Here are some of the pictures from the protest:

WAEC

The West African Examinations Council has finally open up on the much anticipated 2019 WASSCE results. WAEC says results should be expected “within the next 24 hours”.

Demianus G. Ojijeogu, the head of public relations of WAEC Nigeria gave out this information in the early hours of Thursday, July 25, through the official Facebook page of the commission.

According to the declaration, the 2019 WASSCE results will be accessible no later than Friday, July 26.

The statement reads:

“candidates who are not indebted to the council will be able to access and check their results online, using the results checker pin on their smart identity cards used during the conduct of the examination.”

Abubakar Gana, the acting registrar of NECO, said that this way, the body had broken the monopoly of WAEC, claiming that since its establishment in 1999, WAEC had had no choice but to live up to its responsibilities.

Gana said:

“Since 2000, we have been conducting examinations and one advantage I want you to understand is that we have given WAEC a wakeup call and they are now living to their responsibility.

“You may recall that there were times in the past where universities and other tertiary institutions took very longer period for them to admit students.

“But with our coming, we started releasing results within 90 days, which is a period between three months. We started like that but as I am talking to you today, the last release we had was 43 days.”
