Traveling ban looms for all class of Nigerian US travelers, as EOS and AOS stamps on Visa

aos and eos stamps on nigerian passport and visa in us abuja embassy

Nigerians are worried as US Immigration officers allegedly stamps No AOS No EOS on Nigerian passport.

Following the news about the United States of America government’s ban on Drop Box, a Nigerian man, via Instagram has called on Nigerians to be careful if they have to travel to the United States.

According to him, the US Customs and border protection security are now signing No AOS / No EOS on passports of visa holders or immigrants at the US airport.

He shared a picture of what it looked like claiming someone he knows just flew in Atlanta and got her passport stamped with the words. See post and picture below.

He wrote;

“Can you see what they are doing to people now in America? They stamp your passport and write this, Some one just came into Atlanta and they stamped her passport AOS meaning no adjustment of status.

“The next one EOS means no extension of status. So no longer extending your 6 months stay Or adjustment of status or getting married while you are here, everyone has to be careful this people are not joking.

What does NO COS / AOS / EOS mean?

The annotation of “No COS/AOS/EOS” on the passport means no change of status, adjustment of status, or extension of status. It expresses the immigration inspector’s opinion that the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services should not grant an extension of your visitor’s stay or approve a change to another status.

Does No EOS / AOS on my passport ban me from returning to the country?

The Customs and Boarder Protection agents use this stamp when they suspect something questionable about a persons travel patterns. This is a red flag on any immigrant’s passport, it is not binding, but will cause more time-consuming interactions each time there is an attempted entry by the holder to the US henceforth.

It is not too common for a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer to include this annotation in a visitor’s passport, it does happen sometimes. This annotation alone does not necessarily place a ban from COS/AOS/EOS, or from coming back to the U.S.

As long as the holder still has a valid visa, they should be able to come back to the U.S. However, that does not mean that it will be guaranteed entry to the U.S. on the next trip. It will be up to the CBP officer at the port of entry to determine whether or not the passport holder will be admitted to the U.S, Eyad Tabahi, an Immigration Attorney revealed.

He said the ambush also murdered three troops, while the defense minister, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, exchanged words with the fallen heroes ‘ relatives.

The Army General said:

“Troops of 212 Battalion deployed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Jakana, on Wednesday 17Th July 2019 dealt with and neutralised unconfirmed number of Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists when they woefully attempted to infiltrate their base in dire need for logistics.

“The terrorists came at about 1845 hours in 7 Gun Trucks and fought fiercely to infiltrate the camp, but the attack was thwarted with heavy fire and bombardment by the gallant and patriotic troops who were vigilant and battle-ready.

“The terrorists couldn’t bear the firepower any longer after losing a significant number of both equipment and personnel in an exchange of fire.

“They lost initiative and withdrew in disarray along the Benisheikh – Damaturu axis, – abandoning a damaged utility Gun truck which was earmarked to convey looted items.

“Troops immediately followed in hot pursuit and the following items were captured:

1 x Anti Aircraft Gun

2 x Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Tubes

15 x Machine Gun rounds

“Sadly, a Colonel and a Captain, as well as 3 soldiers on transit from Maiduguri to Damaturu, run into an ambush staged by the routed/fleeing terrorists from the Jakana axis which led to their unfortunate death.

“The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai while commiserating with the families of the fallen heroes reiterated that “Personnel of the Nigerian Army will never be deterred in the ongoing noble and patriotic fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East”.

“He further commended the efforts of the entire troops in the theatre and charged them to remain focus, highly committed and professional in the discharge of their constitutional roles.

“The sacrifices of the fallen heroes in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency is no doubt painful to all, but that will further spur us to do more to ensure that our country remains secured, peaceful and free from terrorist activities for the overall interest of the nation.”
